The World Community Service Project No.2030 registered with R.I Foundation for rehabilitation of leprosy cured families in Bhubaneswar.
Dec., 1988:
The then DG Rtn.Dr.5reenivas Sahu had discussed the Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar WCS Project No.2030 for rehabilitation of cured Leprosy families with Rtn.Prof.Dr.Peter Berghaus of the Rotary Club of Muenster, St. Moritz, RI Dist1080, Germany at Calcutta in the meeting of the Indo German Inter country Rotary Community Service Projects organized by PDG K.K.

08.05.1989:
Foundation Stone laid for the Rotary Bhawan ( Rotary Community Service Centre) at Plot No.A-5j2 & A-5j3, Unit-IX,
BBSR.
January,1989:
Rtn.Prof. Dr.Peter Berghaus alongwith the group of Sponsorers visited the Lepra colonies in and around Bhubaneswar and proposed for taking care of the children of Leprosy cured families. Thus the talks for ASHA are initiated.

1990
16.01.1990:
PP Rtn.Prof. Dr. Peter Berghaus and his team of Rotarians from Rotary Club of Muenster, St. Moritz visited the Rotary Club premises under construction and Lepra Colony, Ramakrishnapalli and tentatively selected 15 children for Education Programme to be taken up jointly with Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar with the financial assistance to be extended by the Rotary Club of Muenster, St. Moritz and the members of Open Hearts, Germany.
16.02.1990:
Received letter from PDG Navada ( District Governor, R.I.Dist329), Chairman, Indo German Inter Country Committee informing that the project of educating 15 children would be discussed in the Committee meeting scheduled at Calcutta which PP Rtn. Dr.Prof. Peter
Berghaus.

1991
18.05.1991:
Inauguration of Rotary Bhawan (Rotary Community Service Project Building) by Justice Ranganadha Mishra, Hon'ble Chief Justice of India’s. 10 children of the Lepra cured families of the Lepra colonies in Bhubaneswar short listed for education programme by Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar were presented to the Hon'ble Chief Justice of India.
PP Rtn. M.V.Rao was the then Chairman, Building construction Committee and Coordinator, ASHA Project. PP Rtn. Dr.A.K. Mishra was the President of the Club.
23.06.1991:
the 10 children of the lepra cured families have been taken to the Boarding House, ASHA at N-4j190, Nayapalli, BBSR. The first installment of Rs.25,150/- @ Rs.420/- per child / month for 6 months has been received from PP Rtn. Prof. Dr. Peter Berghaus with a commitment that the remittances would be made regularly once in 6 months for 10/12 years for continuous education of the children.
21.07.1991:
The first ASHA Committee meeting was held at N-190, Nayapalli. It was decided that since the amount committed by PP Rtn. Dr.Prof . Berghaus is not sufficient to meet the estimated budget of Rs.600/- per child/month, the members of the Rotary Club of BBSR would be requested to adopt one child each as local guardian and bear the shortfall of Rs.200/- per child/month for a period of 1 year.
5 of the children were admitted in Blossom School and the rest 5 children in UP School.
24.12.1991:
The meeting venue of the Rotary Club of BBSR has been changed from Bhubaneswar Club Ltd to their own building during the official visit of the District Governor.

1992
January,1992:
Rtn. Prof. Dr. Peter Berghaus and Rtn. Prof.Dr.Reinhard Fricke with the team of Sponsorers visited ASHA children and Lepra colonies and agrred to increase the children strength to 20. Vocational Training Centre (VTC) in Rotary Club building inaugurated.
1994
July, 1994:
ASHA has been shifted to another rented building at N-1jl17, Nayapalli. With the strength of 20 children.

1996-97
February, 1996:
Vocational Training Centre constructed at Ramakrishnapalli Lepra Colony has been inaugurated by PP Rtn. Prof.Dr. Peter Berghaus. Vocational Training imparted in Carpentry and Plumbing for Lepra cured families.
1996-97:
A brochure on ASHA has been prepared and the Project, ASHA has been presented in the exhibition at Asia Regional Conference at Bangkok. Also ASHA dominated in the Rotary Club of BBSR Window week celebrations.

1997-98
The proposal to increase the accommodation in the rented building at N-l/117, Nayapalli has been discussed in the ASHA Committee meeting and the Rotary Club meeting and the Sponsorers have agreed to assist for the same. VTC has been constructed at Jagannthpalli and inaugurated by the then DG Rtn D.N.Padhi. Training in Radio/TV repairing and sewing for ladies is imparted in the VTC. Treatment Centre-cum-VTC has been constructed in Gopibaba Lepra colony, Bhimatangi. With the help of Dr. Mohapatra some inmates have been treated for Ulcer curing, Corrective surgery of the Limbs and provided with supporting appliances.
A large group consisting of Rotarians and members of Open Hearts, Germany under the leadership of Rtn.Prof.Dr. Reinhard Fricke visited VTCs in the Lepra colonies and ASHA. Nominal stipend is provided to the Trainees for a period of 6 months and the trained beneficiaries are assisted with the required equipments and seed money to pursue the trade in which they are trained.

1999-2000
The sponsorers suggested to get a piece of land for construction of ASHA building.
Immediately after hearing about the news of Super Cyclone in Coastal Orissa Rtn. Prof. Dr. Reinhard Fricke came forward to support us for matching grants for construction of Low cost Shelters.
We have received letter (Copy enclosed) from RI about the project database of ASHA currently on World wide web as a part of Rotary International's home page.
Rtn. Prof. Dr. Reinhard Fricke with his family and the Members of Open Hearts visited ASHA and the Lepra Colonies in March, 2000.

2000-01
Matching grants for construction of Low cost Shelters at Daspur supported by Rotary Club of Muenster has been provided by RI Foundation. Rtn.Prof Dr.Reinhard Fricke alongwith his family members visited ASHA and Lepra colonies on 1st and 2nd Jan.,2001. The Rotary Club of muenster sent confirmation on 22.7.2000 of their contribution towards matching grants:
i) ASHA, Bhubaneswar DM 500/-
ii) Low Cost Shelters, Daspur DM 12,600/-
An application for allotment of a Core House for ASHA has been made to the Vice Chairman, BDA in August, 2001. PDG Rtn.N.K.Mishra who was the then Vice Chairman, BDA has allotted a Duplex core house for ASHA at Boramunda Housing Colony on 26.09.01 for Rs.10,71,500/- to be paid within 3 months.

2002-03
Rtn Pro. Rtn. Reinhard Fricke alongwith his team of members visited ASHA and the Core house allotted on 10 March 2002. A Fund of Rs.7,72.496/- has been received from Muenster, Germany through R.I as contribution for ASHA new building.
A total payment of Rs.10,71,500/- has been made to BDA on 15.03.2002 for handing over the possession of the core house.
BDA has informed about the allotment of Core House by lottery scheduled on 28.02.03. Rtn. Prof. Dr. Reinhard Fricke and a group Rotarians visited ASHA and handed over payment of Rs.7,63,950/- for completion of the-core house and furnishing of the same.
The Core house No.252-B at Boramunda HIG Duplex (BDA) Colony has been allotted finally and handed over the possession on 13.10.2003.
ASHA Committee has appointed a Contractor on 18.11.03 for completion of the Core House within 2 months time under the supervision of Rtn.Er.B.B.5hankaran.

2004
January, 2004:
The building has been completed in all respects and the children have been shifted after Gruhapraveesam function on 26.01.2004 and the building has been inaugurated by Rtn.Prof.Dr.Reinhard Fricke during his visit alongwith his team of Rotarians on 31.01.04 in the presence of PDG Dr. Srinivasa Sahu and the members of the Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar.
A statement showing the details of the 20 children housed in the new ASHA building is enclosed.
A reserve fund at the rate of Rs. 100/- (Rupees One hundred only) per month per child has been kept in Fixed Deposit in Bank year after year renewed for rehabilitation of the ASHA children after completion of their education class X/XII or class dropouts with minimum stay of 5 years in ASHA.
A statement of such children left ASHA as on 30.6.2002 with the details of financial assistance/ Fixed deposits made in their favour and their present status of living is enclosed.
A statement of Important visitors to ASHA for the last 10 years is enclosed.
